Sanneke: Young Alberta
Meet the team behind Young Alberta! Sanneke is our podcast host and website designer.

Hi! I'm Sanneke. It's pronounced sah-nuh-kuh, if that helps. ;) I tell my American friends that my name basically rhymes with Canada. So yep, I'm Sanneke from Canada.
Back in 2022 I was in the States, watching the Freedom Convoy protest unfold in Canada. I wanted to learn more, but I struggled to find a source of balanced information that could help me get more than a one-sided or purely partisan idea of what was going on. I spent several days researching everything I could about the early days of the protest, and wrote an article to share what I found. One of my biggest takeaways was how much we need a place for young people to go to find arguments from both sides of current events, so they can understand why their neighbours feel the way they do, and so they can form their own opinions based on their values.
Fast forward to 2026, and the discussion about Alberta's future again showed me the need for that kind of resource. After some conversations with other young adults here in Alberta, the idea for Young Alberta was born. I'm so excited to host the podcast and interview our peers from across the province. If you have a story to share and want to join us on an episode, head over to the podcast page and let us know!
